조금 있으면 여름방학 시즌이 돌아오네요. 미국은 학기가 가을학기 제도라서
여름철 극장흥행수익이 대단합니다. 그 덕분에 한국도 허리우드의 블럭버스터들의 행진은
올 여름도 강타할 예정입니다. 블럭버스터란 영공군에서 개발한 4.5킬로그램 짜리 폭탄으로
한지역을 쓸어버리는 위력급 폭탄의 이름인데 이 폭탄의 이름을 허리우드의 거대자본에
의해 제작된 영화를 일컫는 용어로 바뀌었죠.
지금까지 미국에서 가장 흥행성적이 좋은 영화는 타이타닉입니다. 이 타이타닉은의 기록은 아직
까지 꺠여지지 않고 있습니다. $600,788,188 (1997년기록) 이 타이타닉은 전세계흥행기록도
가지고 있는데 당분간 이 기록은 꺠지지 못할것 같습니다.
하지만 실제 관객동원수는 또 수치가 다름니다. 해마다 물가가 오르는게 정상이라서
저 오래된 60,50년대 영화는 더 많은 관객을 동원하고도 그떄 극장비가 저렴해서 흥행기록
에서 밀려날수밖에 없죠.
